On November 13th, ESSEC CHINE successfully held the Alumni Specialized Professional Lecture in ESSEC La Défense campus. Alumni from different industries shared their working experience, and provided many valuable suggestions for the students.

 

First, Bohao ZOU, having sufficient experience in the medical field, shared his thoughts on apprenticeship by analyzing its pros and cons. He emphasized that before choosing the apprenticeship, students must be cautious about the industry that they would entry, and it is better to combine the work with their interests. What’s more, employers’ characteristics, pace of work, etc. should also be considered.

 

In addition, he is very optimistic about the future development of the health sector. He recommended that students interested in this industry can participate in therapeutic chair in ESSEC, and introduced the differences and focus between the English and French therapeutic chair.

 

Next, Ruozhu WANG and Hanzheng LI, experienced in luxury industry, shared their internship experience.

 

Ruozhu WANG had three internships related to luxury industry, including internship in Printemps, a start-up luxury consulting firm, as well as clients’ development department of Dior. Combining her working experience, she introduced the three core businesses in luxury industry. Also, she reminded that French, ability of networking and personal efforts are very important for getting into the luxury industry.

 

Hanzheng LI currently works for Cartier, being responsible for clients’ development of overseas Chinese. Worked as an intern in a Louis Vuitton store, she believed retail experience can help to further understand the industry and customers. At the same time, she mentioned that in luxury industry, most of the works are not so interesting or glamorous and those who expected to get into this industry should be prepared for the boring and tedious tasks.

 

Later, Zhenni QIAN, working in the Amazon, introduced us about her job duties, mainly related to business development, merchandising, supply chain management and category management, from which the students got a better understanding of E-commerce, especially within beauty industry. She stressed that we must be fully prepared for the interview in advance.

 

After that, Mingqiang BI and Ruizhi ZHANG presented their experience in financial sectors.

 

Mingqiang BI briefly narrated how he eventually chose to devoted to finance. Now he has become a permanent employee of French Bank Credit Agricole, being responsible for the Chinese market’s M & A work.

 

Unlike the experience mentioned before, Ruizhi ZHANG showed us overseas internship opportunities. From Singapore to Japan, then to the Toronto, she has accumulated a wealth of overseas experience. She suggested that if you feel too difficult and uncomfortable to work in French, keep an eye on the abroad opportunities and keep trying different opportunities.

 

The president of ESSEC CHINE, Zhengning WANG, also shared her experience in HR field. As a headhunter, she highly recommended us to take advantage of LinkedIn, building our own LinkedIn page, following interested companies and searching for jobs through LinkedIn. In addition, a well-designed resume is certainly to be an advantage in applying jobs.

 

At last, Bing LI, from the Paris branch of the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, gave his suggestions about applying jobs standing in the angle of recruiters: find interest, be confident, and be prepared. At the same time, he provided some new perspectives for searching internships: focusing on small company with challenging tasks instead of tedious work in big company; paying attention to domestic enterprises’ international business.

 

After Bing Li’s speech, 9 lucky winners won the presents sponsored by ICBC through lottery session.

 

Reaching close time of the campus, the lecture was then continued in a nearby restaurant, where students had deeper communication with alumni and learned more about internship in France.

 

PS: While ESSEC CHINE held this event, Paris was occurring horrible terrorist attacks at the same time. ESSEC CHINE are very appreciated for the attendance of each honored guest. Hoping Paris can be restored to a safe and beautiful city as soon as possible! Let us pray for Paris!

 


 《校友职业经验分享会》顺利举行

11月13日晚,ESSEC CHINE 在ESSEC La Défense校区顺利举行了校友职业经验分享会。来自不同行业的校友们分享了他们的求职经验和工作体会,并为同学们提出了许多有价值的建议。

 

首先,来自医疗领域的邹博浩为大家分享了自己关于学徒制的思考,分析了其利弊。并建议同学们在选择学徒制之前一定要对行业有所考虑和选择,最好能够结合自己的兴趣,还要考虑和雇主的性格、工作节奏等方面是否适合。

此外,他非常看好健康行业未来的发展,因此建议对这个行业感兴趣的同学可以参加ESSEC和医疗相关的chair,并为大家介绍了英语和法语医疗chair的差别和侧重点。

 

接下来,来自奢侈品管理领域的王若竹和李函铮分享了她们的实习经验。

王若竹曾在巴黎春天、奢侈品行业咨询公司、以及Dior实习,主要负责市场、客户发展方面的工作。她结合自己的工作经验,为大家介绍了奢侈品管理的三大核心工作,同时提醒大家,想要进入奢侈品行业,法语、建立人际关系网络的能力、个人的投入和付出都是非常重要的。

 

李函铮目前在Cartier负责海外华人客户业务发展的工作,主攻客户发展和商业战略分析方向。在LV当过店铺实习生的她,认为零售工作能够帮助我们更进一步的去了解这个行业的终端和客户的特征。同时,也告诉大家,奢侈品行业的大部分工作并非大家想的那么光鲜亮丽,很多时候需要耐得住枯燥和繁琐。

 

随后,目前在Amazon从事电子商务的钱珍妮为我们介绍了自己的工作内容,主要涉及业务发展、采购、供应链管理、产品类目管理等多个方面。让大家对于电子商务尤其是Beauty Industry这个领域有了进一步的认识。她强调,实习面试时一定要做好充分的准备,认真对待面试。

 

校友毕铭强和张锐之则介绍了他们在金融领域的经验。

毕铭强首先为我们讲述了自己从职业规划时的迷茫、海投,到最后投身金融行业的心路历程。他目前已成为法国农业信贷银行的正式员工,主要负责中国市场的M&A工作。

 

张锐之则向大家展示了丰富的海外实习机会。从新加坡到日本的实习,再到多伦多的交换,张锐之积累了丰富的海外经验。她建议大家,如果法语不够好,可以将目光投向海外;并且保持一个“焦虑”的心,促使自己不断去努力和尝试。

 

ESSEC CHINE现任主席王钲凝也分享了自己的在HR领域的经验。她现在作为一名猎头,建议大家利用好”领英”的资源,建设好自己的领英主页,多关注自己感兴趣企业及职位的相关信息。此外,完善自己的简历也有助于找到心仪的实习。

 

最后,来自中国工商银行巴黎分行的李冰校友站在招聘方的角度为大家提出了以下几点求职时的建议:找兴趣、要自信、有准备。同时李冰校友也为大家提供了几个找工作实习的新视角:可以找小公司的实习,因为可以学到的东西可能更多;可以关注在法的中资企业;还可以关注国内企业的国际业务。他鼓励大家和更多平台的人进行沟通交流,拓宽视野。

 

李冰校友发言结束后,迎来了由ICBC倾情赞助的重磅抽奖环节,共有9位幸运者获奖。

由于场地的时间限制,分享会随后转移至学校旁边的餐厅,同学们针对自己感兴趣的领域分别向前辈们进行咨询,获益颇丰。至此活动圆满结束!
